Sanur was our second destination in Bali on our way to the island of Nusa Lembongan. We booked a night with the quirky Artotel Sanur Bali and I wish we could have stayed longer than just one night.
The sad truth is that Sanur is often overlooked by tourists due to other more popular and famous destinations such as Ubud or Kuta, but I much preferred Sanur over those places. Plus, Sanur is super close to the Ngurah Rai International Airport – about 15 to 25 minutes.

The Artotel Sanur Bali does look like a showroom of Bali-based contemporary artists proudly highlighting their artwork. Together with the green plants, wooden decorations and colourful arts, it offers a relaxing experience near the seaside, yet is vibrant and lively! I would even class the Artotel Sanur Bali as an affordable luxury for those budget travellers!
This 4-star hotel is located in the heart of Sanur, close to a variety of restaurants and bars, all within walking distance to the beach as well. If you’re quiet enough, you can hear the ocean waves from your balcony!

Artotel Sanur – Rooms
Each room has its own quirky style, giving you a unique and comfortable experience during your stay. Each room in Artotel Sanur is equipped with an LCD TV, Free Water Bottles and Nescafe Dolce Gusto for those coffee lovers, linens, a safe, complimentary WIFI and bathroom amenities. We loved the sliding door which looked like a wardrobe with see-through glass to the bathroom! What a playful design! But the two best things we totally loved about our hotel stay in Artotel Sanur Bali was the rooftop infinity pool and the SPA.

I decided to stay at the Artotel Sanur Bali before our arrival due to a few factors I’d read about: The price, reviews, the location, their rooftop bar and of course the interior! I booked it via booking.com and so can you via the banner below:

If you are a sucker for sunsets and cocktails like I am, then the rooftop bar is the perfect place for you to sit down and relax with a cocktail in hand.

Food in Artotel Sanur
The Artotel Sanur Bali is a fantastic hotel experience with the bar and restaurant on-site offering complimentary breakfast and a-la-carte dining, rooftop infinity pool and picturesque view – difficult to beat! ROCA restaurant serves classic western dishes (just in case you’ve had enough rice already) and also traditional Asian food with a twist to aspire you with their creations pairing nicely with their cocktails. We only had breakfast but the variety was rich to satisfy gourmands from around the world!
The SPA experience
My favourite thing about the Artotel Sanur Bali was the SPA service. As a customer, you get a discount on SPA services and various other offers (these offers change from day to day, so you have to keep checking the board next to the SPA). Carl treated us to a couple’s massage, I went for a Traditional Balinese massage (60 minutes) and Carl decided for the back massage (30 minutes). Spa Bookings are made via the reception, where you’ll have to fill out a medical form and will be served with a fresh ice-cold ginger tea. I was looked after by lovely Bella. As soon as I walked in I was met with the most relaxing Balinese music and an array of aromas, I was ready to rejuvenate. You will be given a dressing robe and optional underwear (not sexy at all haha!) and a choice of aromatherapy oil. I went for the refreshing peppermint because it smelled like heaven. Before my massage Bella washed, exfoliated and massaged my feet. I was already in some kind of coma, leaving both my body and soul to this angel. I am not going to lie, during my massage, I did nod off, even dribbled a little. What can I say, I needed that message after the trekking Mt Batur and water rafting the day before! Thank you, Bella!

Rooftop Swimming Pool

I mean, what’s a better way to cool yourself down during those hot days in Bali than jumping into an infinity pool with scenic views? Although our view was partially blocked by a construction site, that doesn’t mean we didn’t enjoy it! The infinity pool is great, we spent a good few hours in the water splashing like kids and enjoying the sun, trying to get some of that famous Indonesian tan. The one thing we didn’t like was the area around the swimming pool. It was really small, and when we arrived, around midday, it was already packed so we couldn’t get a seat. If you want to enjoy the pool views, you’d have to come earlier and secure your spot. For a hotel with around 80 rooms, a few chairs and bean bags isn’t enough.

Service
From the beginning till the end, everyone at the hotel was friendly and helpful. From the luggage staff, through the service desk, SPA and bar staff, we found everyone friendly and always happy to help. We didn’t have any problems with the check-in or check-out; I paid upfront which speeds up the whole process and also, our luggage was taken from us and delivered to our room! Sweet!
Good to know:
Cost of the Artotel Sanur
We only paid Β£35 for one night in the Studio 30 Twin Room with complimentary breakfast. Bear in mind, we stayed towards the end of June during high season. But for us, this price was extremely cheap, considering all the perks it came with! Plus, the massage is extremely cheap, around Β£12 when you book with a certain offer on the day.
Conclusion
We loved our stay at the Artotel Sanur Bali, for Β£35 it is really hard to beat! We paid more at some places and were treated worse! For us, if we go to Sanur again, I would definitely choose the Arotel Sanur in Bali. I know exactly what service I will get for my money, plus the Balinese massage I had was the best in my entire life!

This place looks incredible! I haven’t been to Bali yet but it’s high on my list. I can’t believe you only paid 35 pounds! What a steal! And for that gorgeous pool? And a nice spa? Book me in now!
Can totally recommend it, and for that price, even better, haha! π I would say go to Bali before it gets completely ruined by tourism π
