I know how difficult it can be to stay motivated. Especially on those rainy days, when the sky is full of grey and ashy clouds and the world is preparing for the worst. With the current coronavirus threat the world is facing, it is really difficult to stay motivated. A majority of the world is now on lock down, people live in fear and the streets are empty. Travelling is banned or not advised. I’m trying to isolate myself from the outside world, I also lack motivation, I wish I could travel. But I’m doing my best to stay motivated and keep on creating content for my blog and Social Media.
In this article, you can find all my tips on ‘How to stay motivated’ which I try to implement into my daily routines. I hope it will motivate you to do whatever you gotta do!

Make a list of at least three reasons why you want to accomplish your goal
This is a good one. Imagine yourself already accomplishing all your goals. How does it feel? Super exciting, right? Most successful people do visualise their performance and the goals ahead, helping them to stay focused. With this in mind, make a list of three reasons for your goal, or for each goal you want to achieve to help you stay motivated and focused. Plus, handwriting has a positive effect on the brain, helping it to process the information more actively!
Prepare a strategy
Now, when you have your reasons written down, it’s time to prepare a strategy. Ask yourself the following questions:
- How I am going to achieve my goal(s)?
- What resources do I need to achieve my goal(s)?
- When do I want to achieve my goal(s)?
- Will I need additional support from someone else?
Once you’ve answered all these questions, write them down in a calendar or a diary so you have a clear vision of what you’re trying to achieve.
I have this Planner from CleverFox and I can’t recommend it enough; from daily plans to monthly and yearly goals – it helps me to stay focused and plan all my content!
Create a vision board
I love creating vision boards. I have on one the wall in our office and a smaller version in my journal I carry with me. It helps me to stay focused to keep an eye on all the goals I want to accomplish this year. Vision boards are extremely motivational. They are also easy to create, you just need some magazines, newspapers or a printer and maybe a magnetic board or a corkboard and pins.
Check Pinterest for Ideas
I looooove Pinterest! There is so much inspiration from cooking recipes to DIY and travel experiences to home date ideas! Literally, there is something for everyone. It doesn’t matter if your niche is fashion, football or if you’re a travel blogger – if you lack motivation with writing articles, taking pictures for clients, creating recipes – you can find it all on Pinterest. I bet that if you spend just five minutes searching for something related to your niche – you will feel like you can create anything and be motivated! Plus, Pinterest is a great source for the Vision Board too!
Listen to some workout music (and maybe move too!)
It is proven that music affects our moods, yet changes our perception. Some people even say, there is no better cure than music. I’m not too sure about that, but it definitely helps to lift the mood. Trying to stay motivated, I prefer listening to workout or running music. You know, that kind of music what pushes you towards your limits. Maybe instead of sitting on your ass while listening to it, you can do some lunges, star jumps etc, to keep both the body and brain moving!
Read motivational books
My kindle and library shelves are full of motivational books. I love reading them and so should you, simply because they are always based on someone else’s true story who wants to inspire you and motivate you to avoid all the mistakes they made. Most of the time they are short, written in plain language for better understanding and help you to stay motivated. I’ve picked some of my favourites for you, they are all available to buy or download from Amazon.
Speak to your partner or friends about your goals
Sometimes speaking out load and listening to yourself and the opinions of others can help a lot. People can give you their opinions and may have useful insight into what it is you want to do. Maybe you’ve overlooked something or they’ve already done what you plan to do. It gives you a different perception which is always useful. Carl is a great help when it comes to brainstorming and helping me fulfil some of my ideas because I have a lot of plans, but I just hit a wall sometimes.
To stay positive and motivated all the time can be difficult, especially these days with nothing but bad news plastered all over TV, radio and Social Media. But positive thinking leads to positive actions. Create positive affirmations, if you have to, and keep repeating them every morning or evening before bedtime. Be in charge of your thoughts, it will help you achieve your goals. I’ve listed some of my favourites for you:
“I am superior to negative thoughts and low actions.”
“My ability to conquer my challenges is limitless; my potential to succeed is infinite.”
“I am courageous and I stand up for myself.”
“Today, I abandon my old habits and take up new, more positive ones.”
“My efforts are being supported by the universe; my dreams manifest into reality before my eyes.”
After every goal, you successfully achieve, learn to reward yourself. Every time you set a goal, big or small, set a reward for each one. My goal for 2020 is to reach one million views on Pinterest, then drive from that at least 25000 views a month to my blog so I can be accepted for Mediavine. I know it won’t be easy, but I will do my best to achieve it and after that, I will reward myself with a luxurious SPA Retreat and some champagne. My point is that you have to find balance, find what works for you and what doesn’t.
Read some of these motivational quotes:
1. Push yourself, because no one else is going to do it for you.
2. Success doesn’t just find you. You have to go out and get it.
3. Don’t wait for opportunity. Create it.
4. Always ask yourself if what you’re doing today is getting you closer to where you want to be tomorrow.
5. Success is not final; failure is not fatal: It is the courage to continue that counts.
